CARSTAR Burlington was one of the many local businesses to help support the Burlington Fire Department this fall in its awareness efforts for breast cancer and men’s health.
The second annual fundraiser sees the Burlington fire truck wrapped in pink to help raise awareness for breast cancer. Additionally, in honour of Movember, the truck also sports a mustache to help raise awareness of men’s health issues, such as prostate cancer, testicular cancer and men’s suicide.
“It has been a challenging year for everyone, but it is important for us to continue giving back to our community as this is when it matters most,” says Mike Dybka, co-owner, CARSTAR Burlington. “Seeing our local fire truck decked out is amazing. Plus, the fire department raises thousands for both causes.”
Dually branding this fire truck has become an annual tradition for the Burlington Professional Firefighters Association IAFF 1552 and the Burlington Fire Department. For its October and November causes, the firefighting team and local Burlington businesses come together to raise funds and awareness for the Canadian Cancer Society as well as the Movember Foundation.
“Firefighters are already heroes for embarking on a career that requires such bravery in the face of danger,” continues Dybka. “For them to go above and beyond to raise valuable funds and awareness for charitable causes in their off time only further proves why they are Burlington’s finest. We are happy to support them and their causes.”
